BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

This is the lead position for Business Development at Dairyland. The individual in this position is part of the Dairyland Leadership Team and is responsible for all functions of business development, ensuring we are intentionally engaged with partners and customers, sharing our technical expertise and nurturing relationships, and therefore sales. This position reports to the Operations Manager in Stoughton, WI.

Primary Responsibilities (functions, job duties, tasks, etc.):

  • As part of the Dairyland Leadership team, be an empowered leader characterized by behaviors consistent with Dairyland Core Values and
  • Expectations of Leaders. Positively represent Dairyland; be an advocate of our mission, vision, values, strategy, other Leaders and their           teams, and decisions made by the Leadership team and Senior Leadership.
  • Active, consistent, and persistent leadership and management of Dairyland Business Development; provide vision, strategy, accountability,       responsibility, direction, goals, prioritization, inspiration, challenge and reward for Business Development team.
  • Understand Business Development competencies, demand and capacity. Ensure current and future business development resource needs         are met through regular assessment, planning, delegation, recruiting, hiring/firing and training.
  • Deliver exceptional execution of day-to-day Business Development operations, meeting or exceeding performance and quality goals and          deadlines.
  • Continuous improvement of, and monitoring compliance with, company and Business Development system, policies, procedures,                     processes, ensuring effectiveness and closing of sales opportunities.
  • Function as the lead “in-field” contact for Dairyland.
  • Establish and oversee execution of business development strategy and lead the corporate discussion on markets (domestic, international,       product), in coordination with Marketing. Use VOC and research to make recommendations on new and existing products, applications             and markets.
  • Oversee and participate in the key functions of Dairyland Business Development:
    • Account Management: Maintenance of CRM accounts and contacts, ensuring currency and accuracy for use by entire company.
    • Customer Nurturing: Establish deep relationships with end users. Includes discovery of new customers, actively identifying new and           ongoing needs, growing Dairyland product awareness, learning and support of projects.
    • Partner Nurturing: Identification and development of Dairyland partners, namely distributors, consultants/contractors, and EPC                (Engineer, Procure, Construct) firms. Includes maintaining relationship, ensuring market awareness, ensuring successful promotion of          Dairyland, specification of our products, and providing structured technical training as appropriate.
    • Application Engineering: Provide exceptional product and application technical support applying Dairyland solutions, as applicable, via       telephone, email and internet (webinars).
    • Create and present oral and written presentations for customers and industry conferences.
    • Create and maintain technical documentation for internal and external use, including training, application documentation, case                 studies and application notes, as applicable.
    • Provide digital content and assistance to Marketing, as applicable.
  • All other duties as assigned. 

Competencies (required education, training, skills, and/or experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree and five years experience in industry. Engineering degree and/or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum five years’ experience managing/supervising teams; proven strong leadership skills and experience.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a comparable business development position.
  • Proven project management experience with execution and delivery as per plan.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Strong proven technical aptitude. 
  • Strong proven technical writing and presentation skills.

 Organizational Relationships (primary contacts/interfaces): 

  • Reports to Operations Manager.
  • Oversees all Business Development employees.
  • Regular contact with all Office employees and Business Development teams. 

 Physical Demands: 

  • Total travel estimated to not exceed 20%.
  • Work location is either the Dairyland Stoughton office or other remote location in the contiguous US, assuming full connectivity and no           negative business impact.
  • Regularly required to sit.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift or move up to 70 pounds.
